Sixty Years of Excellent Cooperation
The plant of São Bernardo do Campo: At the beginning of May, Mercedes Benz do Brasil (MBBras) organized a remarkable anniversary Event. With focus on the suppliers: the Interação Awards and the sixth edition of the Mercedes-Benz Environmental Responsibility Award took place.
It was a twin celebration. A round birthday and a great awarding ceremony. About 500 guests, mainly high-ranking representatives of suppliers, were invited to the exhibition space of the plant.
The company and its suppliers looked back on a successful collaboration in 2015 and ambitiously ahead.
MBBras strives to be a constant leader in the commercial vehicle market. Continuously offering cutting edge Technologies and always responding rapidly and flexibly to customer’s needs. These are essentials for future success. For MBBras and its suppliers!
Ten suppliers, already convinced with outstanding performances, have now been honored with the Interação Awards. There has been seven different categories including one anniversary highlight: the “Special Award” honoring sixty years of irreplaceable corporation and partnership.
In the future sustainability and environmental protection are indispensable.
MBBras emphasized this particular importance awarding three suppliers with the “Mercedes-Benz Environmental Responsibility Award”.
Over the past decades the company has continually expanded its local business in promoting local suppliers.
Erodes Berbetz, Purchase Director of Mercedes-Benz do Brasil, emphasized that these partnerships are competitiveness drivers for MBBras, particularly in challenging periods like today.
During our whole history in this country, in the economy expansion moments and in those of shrinkage, we could count on the valuable contribution given by the suppliers, partners of all hours, who always have demonstrated commitment, dedication and excellent relationship.
Torpedo as the beginning of a success story
Sixty years of the company’s history have shown that together with its suppliers MBBras can achieve impressive performances.
By today 2,120,000 commercial vehicles have been produced in Brazil: 1,450 000 trucks and 670,000 buses!
Everything started with the “Torpedo” in 1956, the first truck produced in Latin America.
One year later the bus production followed.
Today Mercedes Benz do Brasil is the country’s largest truck and bus producer. Its plant in São Bernardo do Campo is Daimler’s largest unit outside Germany for commercial vehicles.
In the first three months of 2016 the company has already underlined its market position: From every ten trucks in Brazil four are Mercedes-Benz and from every ten buses, six carry the three pointed star!
A good starting point to drive the future together.
