From the rollercoaster to the Supplier Award

Time and cost savings are particularly important for Daimler Trucks customers - and Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) is working with Zonar Systems to make this possible.

This collaboration was particularly successful in 2016: that is because Zonar Systems not only delivers parts that are installed in DTNA’s Freightliner, Western Star and Thomas Built buses. Together, the two companies combine the best-in-class Daimler trucks with innovative hardware and software. The goal here? To enable a higher performance of the trucks in order to constantly increase customer satisfaction.

And that’s exactly what we’ve achieved with the “Detroit Connect Virtual Technician” remote diagnostics system. Among other things, remote diagnosis via tablet can be used to carry out repairs earlier within a short period of time in order to reduce the downtime of Daimler trucks – it is a solution that makes the heart of all fleet managers beat faster. Through active participation in this innovative telematics solution in fiscal year 2016, Zonar was honored with the Daimler Supplier Award 2016 for significant time and cost savings for Daimler customers.

This video shows how the “Detroit Connect Virtual Technician” works:

From the rollercoaster to trucks & buses

Zonar was founded in 2001 and already had its first customer in 2002. However, the first customer was not from the commercial vehicle sector: it was Desperado, one of the world’s largest rollercoasters in Primm, Nevada. And a short time later, Zonar found itself in the truck and bus business. Today, Zonar is one of the largest telematics manufacturers in North America.

In 2010, the collaboration between DTNA and Zonar began to further develop the virtual diagnostic system developed by Detroit Engines. Meanwhile, more than 200,000 Daimler trucks and buses have been equipped with Zonar’s innovative technologies. Among other things, this includes the famous yellow school bus from the USA, which is manufactured by Daimler’s brand “Thomas Built Buses”.

During our long-standing collaboration with Daimler, we have focused on developing innovative, cutting-edge technology to help our mutual customers achieve greater Performance.
