Daimler Supplier Award 2018	incl. Video

"Vision. Venture. Value." The motto of the 11th Daimler Supplier Award is a call to action. Participation. Being at the top. More than 450 strategic partners and key suppliers of Daimler AG took up this invitation on February 20th, 2019, and came to the Carl Benz Arena in Stuttgart.

The award concept: Distinguishing performance

With the Daimler Supplier Award, Daimler honors above-average performance once a year as well as the partnership-based collaboration with ten suppliers in the past year. Their performance is measured in terms of quality, partnership and innovation. In addition, economic efficiency, supplier loyalty and sustainable behavior are evaluated, based on trust and open communication.

The contents

In addition to the trophies, the focus this year was also on the contents. The central principle of VISION. VENTURE. VALUE. defined the eleventh Award. The three concepts represent the blueprint of corporate success.

In their speeches, the procurement vice presidents explained what this motto means for the individual areas of responsibility.

Procurement makes a significant contribution to the implementation of the CASE strategy at Mercedes-Benz Cars by working together with suppliers at a very early stage in the development of innovations. After placing an order for battery cells for 20 billion euros to safeguard our electric offensive, we are taking further steps forward with the transformation.

Wilko A. Stark, Member of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Cars, Procurement & Supplier Quality

IPS and its suppliers take an active part in shaping the future of Daimler. Especially in times of disruption and change, it is important to deal with risks responsibly and to seize opportunities. Only on the basis of courageous decisions the upcoming transformation of the automotive world will become a business opportunity for all of us.

Andreas Burkhart, Head of International Procurement Services

Daimler Trucks will invest heavily in the development of automated trucks over the next few years. We will achieve the next big truck upgrade through automation! We play a key role in shaping the path to this goal in procurement. We work together with our suppliers on solutions for the technical challenge of such innovations. These have a single purpose: to strengthen our customers in their competition!

Dr. Marcus Schoenenberg, Head of Global Procurement Daimler Trucks & Buses
