The blue ribbon: symbol for a strong bond

For the milestone anniversary of the Daimler Supplier Award, the vehicle manufacturer is also opening a new chapter in its work with its suppliers. The challenges of the future require an even stronger networking of both sides. It is a vision that is also expressed in the concept of the tenth award ceremony.

Daimler AG is changing, getting ready for the future – that’s no longer a secret. The transformation can be felt in the company culture, inside and out. A fresh wind is also blowing in procurement. New ways of working are changing the cooperation with suppliers. What is always hinted at in daily life, is made noticeable at the Daimler Supplier Award 2017.

A new chapter for company and suppliers

With the motto “Enter the next chapter”, Daimler wants to enter the next chapter of cooperation with its suppliers at the ten-year anniversary celebration. Both sides will come even closer together in the future. Commonalities will be emphasized to an even greater extent. The atmosphere of the evening will take up the new company spirit: gala meets convention.

For the first time, the award ceremony is taking place at the customer center in Sindelfingen. The new location will also enables a change in design. Known seating concepts will give way to a modern stand, various food stalls will replace the classic buffet. An urban big city feel paired with a living room atmosphere.

Dense areas, joint growth

The logo also continues to evolve and the stronger relationship between Daimler and its suppliers is visualized. The idea for the previous year’s logo originated from the pyramid tip of the Daimler Supplier Network as well as from the placement game Tangram. For the logo, the pyramid tip broke out and became three-dimensional. This created the “Space for Excellence”. Fine connecting lines symbolized the linking of the competencies of Daimler and its suppliers.

This year, the pyramid tip continues to develop: A blue ribbon lays around its sides. Dense areas are made from the previous fine lines, which creatively represent the stronger connection with the suppliers. Cooperation will not only be strengthened, but also become even stronger in the future. One side of the tangram however remains open – this leaves room for combined growth.

The blue ribbon of the logo will reappear throughout the entire evening, thus providing a visual anchor. The event concept has also been influenced by the contextual aspects. It will be more open and more approachable – during the official festivities as well as the dinner. The guests are in the spotlight from the start. However, the rest is a surprise.
